Buchanan Cup

1985 Colorado Gamma Buc Cup
The Buchanan Cup, or Buc Cup as its often called, is Sigma Phi Epsilon's highest honor for outstanding chapter achievement. The award is presented at the bi-annual Grand Chapter Conclave to Sigma Phi Epsilon chapters who demonstrate excellence in all areas of chapter operations over the two-year period between Conclaves.
The award was first given in 1961 and it was officially named the Buchanan Cup in 1967 for Past Grand President & Past Grand Treasurer Edwin T. Buchanan, Ohio Gamma, 1911.
The Buc Cup Trophy is a majestic silver bowl (or in our case, a tarnished silver bowl) engraved with the chapter name and year. Chapters who win the award five consecutive times receive a Gold Buc Cup for demonstrated excellence over a decade.
As of the 2007 Grand Chapter Conclave, there have been 24 Buchanan Cup award presentations. The Nebraska Alpha chapter has won 16 of a possible 24 Buchanan Cups including nine in a row from 1975 to 1991 and they currently have won the award five consecutive times since 1997. The Oregon Alpha chapter has won the Bucchanan Cup 19 times of a possible 24- the most of all SigEp chapters.
2007 and 2008 were very successful years for Colorado Gamma and we submitted a very strong 2009 Buc Cup application in 2009, but we came up short. We are addressing a few missing pieces to bring home Colorado Gamma's second Buc Cup in 2011!
Congrats to Colorado Alpha at CU on receiving their 4th Buc Cup in 2009!
